You need a base chemical to neutralize the stomach acid so try milk, any kind should be find, fruits like apples and grapes, and products with a vinegar base are some examples of products. I don’t know what all you can eat while pregnant but you should probably go see a dr. If it persists

remedy answers:

Hi Tari,

I had the same problem recently so I did a little research: heartburn is caused by several different factors such as certain foods, smoking or stress. To manage it you could try some of the following:

-frequent smaller meals instead of 3 large ones
-eat slowly
-eat at least 3 hours before bedtime as your last meal
-extra pillow at night to keep head elevated
-drink luke-warm water or herbal tea after dinner
-wear looser-fitting clothes
-avoid ‘trigger’ foods such as: chocolate (I know!), sugars, onion, citrus fruits / juices, peppermint, coffee, alcohol, fried and fatty foods, mustard, vinegar, tomatoes, spicy foods, processed meats

Hope this helps and good luck with your pregnancy!

The ultimate home remedy for heartburn is Organic Apple Cider Vinegar. You say WHAT???? VINEGAR IS AN ACID!! Yeah true, but heartburn is caused by an inbalance of acid in your stomach. Apple Cider Vinegar will help to restore your PH and bring you acid levels back to normal. DO NOT USE MILK!!! Milk works much the same way antacids work. It neutralizes stomach acid which makes digestion more difficult. In short terms, milk makes it worse.

remedy answers:

Finding out what is the cause of your heartburn is the first step to helping to ease it. Try keeping a food diary for a few days and note down how you feel after eating certain foods. Foods that are commonly found to irritate the stomach are sugar, wheat, refined white flour (bread, pasta, pastries) but some people have reactions to tomatoes, red peppers and other fruit and vegetables.

Many people eat on the go – they either don’t have or don’t make the opportunity to sit down, relax, chew and digest their meals. This is an important part of digestion, as your saliva helps break the food down into a more digestible form for your stomach. Stress is also a contributing factor in heartburn as it tends to ‘clamp’ the body’s functions – this affects the natural, healthy function of digestion, among many other things.

Try Peppermint tea, one cup with each meal. It’s available in most supermarkets and health food stores in tea bag form. Peppermint is a digestive and helps to calm inflammation in the digestive tract. Another option is Chamomile tea, which is also anti-inflammatory. If you continue to get heartburn, try Slippery Elm. This is ground tree bark which has a wonderfully soothing effect on the digestive tract. It is available both as a powder and in tablet form, neither of which are unpleasant but the tablets are easier to carry with you.

If you’ve kept a food diary and cut down on alcohol, sugar and white flour products and still can’t seem to pin down what is causing your heartburn, it’s a good idea to see your GP.

Here’s a tea that you can make to help you with acid reflux or heartburn. It will help you reduce the amount of acid you have in your stomach. Mix together equal amounts of aniseed, peppermint and lavender. Make an infusion of this tea:
* boiling 2 1/2 cup distilled water
* pour this water over a teaspoon of the herbal mixture
* let this tea sit for 3- 5 minutes
* strain the tea and add a little bit of honey if you like.
* place this tea in a thermos

Drink up to 8 oz in the morning and 8 oz in the evening to get relief of acid reflux.

Also – Aniseed or anise – is a powerful herb that helps in digestive conditions and has many other benefits for your body. Use only the ash-colored anise called green anise, European anise or sweet anise. There are two other types of anise, star anise and caraway, which should not be used here.

Peppermint – is another powerful herb for stomach conditions or heartburn. It helps in digestion, stomach distension, cramps, ulcers, and gas.

Natural cures or remedies for heartburn?

My husband has had heartburn since last night. He thinks it is from too much dairy. Does anyone know of any natural cures or remedies that do not involve dairy? He will not take any OTC meds…I do not blame him. Thanks!
He has never had heartburn before. He cannot take rolaids or tums because we DO NOT eat any sugar. Saltines are out, as we do not eat wheat. I heard that “neutralizing” the acid in the stomach is actually bad and simply perpetuates the problem…so I am weary of having him drink baking soda.

remedy answers:

Your on the right track. Hearburn is actually your stomach swelling up from gas. It presses against the heart. This condition is a result of not having enough hydrocloric acid in the stomach to digest the food. This is just the beginning of more problems. Eating too much food, in one meal, makes it hard for the stomach to digest it. Another problem related to this is the bodies inability to assimulate protein properly. When protein is broken down into amino acids, the body uses these amino acids to make digestive fluids like the hyrochloric acid in the stomach. It’s a vicious circle. No hydrochloric acid in the stomach, not amino acids, not production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. You can buy supplements that boost the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. They come in capsule or pill form. Also check the intestines and colon for good health. When the stomach doesn’t work well the rest of the tube has problems too.

What do you do for heartburn relief?

I’ve been getting heartburn since I was 12 weeks. However, the further along I get the worse it gets and these days Tums just ain’t cutting it. Milk works somewhat, but it just keeps getting worse as time goes on. Some days are worse than others. Anyone have any great heartburn remedies for those days when it just won’t go away? Today has been a good day and haven’t had it that bad, but yesterday I had it all day and it came back as soon as I laid down in bed. I’m so frustrated and am hoping someone has a miracle remedy. Everytime I ask the doctor or pharmacist they just tell me tums. I still have 12 weeks to go, so need something to get me through with the heartburn. Thanks all!

Try drinking lots of water when it starts and elevating your head if you are in bed and it starts. Mine got so bad that my doctor ended up giving me a prescription for it, zantac, I only take it when I feel the heart burn coming on and it takes it away pretty quick.

Also, try not to eat 2 hours before bed, sometimes it helps. The nice thing, once baby drops it will get better. My baby dropped earlier this week and I only got heartburn yesterday and it was the first time in a few days.

remedy answers:

Try alkaline foods, such as yogurt or milk, to ease the burning. If these do not work, try mildly acidic foods, such as orange, pineapple, or tomato juice. Papaya contains digestive enzymes and may be eaten fresh or in tablet form.
• Dried, salted umeboshi plums from Japan, available from health-food shops, are a great aid to digestion. A tea made from one cup of boiled water and one umeboshi plum can be flavoured with tamari and drunk hot or cold.
• In cases of severe heartburn, eating proteins and carbohydrates separately at different times during the day may help to improve digestion. Vegetables may be combined with either proteins or carbohydrates, but fruit is best eaten at the beginning rather than at the end of a meal.
• Herbalism One teaspoon of slippery elm powder mixed with water or milk will neutralise the stomach. An infusion of meadowsweet will also have a digestive, soothing effect.
• Homeopathy Take either Arsenicum 6C or Natrum phosphoricum 6C three times daily, stopping when symptoms start to improve. If there is no improvement, consult a homeopath.
• Shiatsu Apply pressure to the point PC6 (see Carpal tunnel syndrome) and ask your partner to shiatsu the stomach meridian (see below).

Helper: With your partner sitting on the floor with her back supported, place one hand on her upper thigh. Using the thumb of your other hand, shiatsu along the stomach meridian (shown). Concentrate on pressing the point Stomach 36 (ST36), located four fingers’ width below the kneecap in the indentation on the outside of the shin bone.

Digestive Enzymes an Probiotic with EnzyGuard-D™

Superior Enzyme and Probiotic Fortification
Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics with EnzyGuard-D™ blends important digestive enzymes with probiotics (good bacteria) to give your body the necessary tools to digest and process your food, promote a healthy balance of bacteria, and protect your body against harmful invading microorganisms. EnzyGuard-D™, a proprietary, cutting edge technology developed by and available only through 4Life™, helps stabilize these enzymes and probiotics to provide a longer shelf life and more activity once inside your body.

——————————————————————————–

What is an enzyme?

What are probiotics?

What is EnzyGuard-D™?

Click Here to view the key ingredients

——————————————————————————–

What is an enzyme?
Enzymes are protein molecules that are necessary for life. Without enzymes we wouldn’t be able to eat, breathe, drink or digest our food. There are enzymes naturally present in all raw foods. These enzymes help our bodies properly digest the foods we eat. As a result of poor dietary habits, microbial contamination, and the world’s fixation with fast foods, we just are not getting enough raw foods in our diets.

Unfortunately for us, the ability to digest our foods properly decreases as we get older. Foods you loved when you were younger may now give you gas and bloating. Researchers also believe that as our body works overtime to make up for the lack of enzymes in the food we eat, that extra stress puts pressure on our immune system, making it harder to fight off illness and disease.

——————————————————————————–

What Are Probiotics?
You might think that all bacteria is bad for your body, but that is far from the truth. The word probiotic means “in favor, or support of life.”Millions of “good” bacteria exist in your body, helping us to fight off disease, produce vitamins, metabolize hormones, nourish new cells, and produce enzymes that help food with digestion. Without good bacteria, the harmful microorganisms would take over our bodily functions, making us extremely ill. Antibiotics by nature kill all bacteria, even the good. Food sensitivities, arthritis, excessive flatulence, irritable bowel syndrome, and auto-immune diseases are just a few of the conditions that can be caused by a disruption in good bacteria.

——————————————————————————–

How can 4Life™ help?
Digestive Enzymes and Probiotics with EnzyGuard-D™ contains effective enzymes to help your body break down the proteins, sugars, carbohydrates, and fats that you consume on a daily basis. These enzymes aid in the absorption of key nutrients, as well as the digestive process throughout the body.

This product will help replenish your body of the “good” bacteria it desperately needs. Taking probiotics will help restore the bacterial balance in your body and protect against many harmful conditions. Good bacteria can also help restore healthy enzyme levels in your body.

Common Symptoms of Enzyme and
Probiotic Depletion include:

Belching
Bloating

Bowel Problems
Abdominal Cramps

Fatigue After Meal
Food Allergies

Gas

remedy answers:

This will get rid of heartburn.
You need to help your body to build up your immune system. The breathing exercises – pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the health problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits.Build up your timing slowly and after two weeks at the suggested duration you will start to notice benefits.

Bhastrika – Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for upto 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom – Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril
then – close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 10 times
—-
Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to master the technique. This is simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.

Home Remedy for Heartburn/Indegestion?

I am 8 and a half months pregnant and have TERRIBLE heartburn, and no antacid tablets (live in regional area and all the shops are closed!)
remedy answers:

Congratulations Rae! There are a few schools of thought as to why people get heartburn. 1- not enough good flora or bacteria in your stomach, 2- too much acidity, 3- believe it or not, too little acidity. With your pregnancy in mind then, there are 3 possible things that could work. For me, baking soda neutralizes stomach acid so quickly, it’s like a miracle when I’m in pain – and if I am going to throw up, IT STOPS IT! Then, if it’s that you need good bacteria in your stomach, good old yogurt with live bacteria is both healthy for you and baby, and therefore potentially helpful. Lastly; and obviously be careful with this one as you know your body better; believe it or not, cayenne pepper has “capsaicin,” a substance that blocks the bodies production of something called “Substance-P” which is scientifically proven to be the carrier of pain signals to the brain, therefore until the body can replenish it’s supply of Substance-P, pain will be minimized. While all have their logic and merit, I would still recommend baking soda as the safest, fastest, sure fire way…just a half to whole teaspoon in 6-8 ounces of water and that’s it. By the way, if you are very acidic, when you drink the mixture, it will taste sweeter than you would think. That’s it neutralizing your acid, so the sweeter the taste, the more acidic you’ve been. Hope it helps:)

what are the signs & symptoms of a minor heart attack?

last night all of a sudden I had this awful heartburn that got worse,it started feeling like heartburn pain in my chest, I took about 8 tums altogether to see if it would go away, it didn’t. Next my jaw was hurting and I was holding my chest as it really hurt, went to the middle of my abdomen, I felt dizzy,I started pacing back & forth wondering if I should call 911, I was scared. My back started hurting also, felt weak. I just laid down hoping it would go away, It took a while but i was able to fall asleep. Today, well I just feel out of sorts, tired. I have to add that my cholesterol is 315, have a Doctors appointment Monday, should I mention this to her? Thank you for any help you can give me, I am not one to go to the ER if I am not sure something is wrong.
Just went to doctors, first asked about glucose at it was 166 fasting, she told me that by my A1C 5.7 it is not anything, I went to ask a question, she yelled at me saying she was right and I didn’t need medication,I told her in a calm voice,I was not asking for medication,I was simply asking a question, she said this conversation is not going well, wanted me to leave so I did. Have no meds. for chholesterol of 315…didn’t get to tell her about this problem posted..I am so upset. when the nurse took my pulse the alarm went off,I asked her why, my pulse was 120 she said,I was out of breath from walking across the street.

You had some of the text book symptoms of a H/A. Mine were the same, except I was vomiting, I had pain going from my jaw up along my skull, left arm was tingle and numb. Had trouble breathing. My cholesterol was 145, I ran 2 miles 3 days a week, ate healthy, and worked out.
If you are smart you will most definitely tell your Dr. About this. He will probably want to give you an EKG and a heart cath. I would not be a bite surprised if you have damage to your heart.
Good Luck and hope all goes well.

remedy answers:

For women, the symptoms are not as clear cut as for men. While all of the normal symptoms> chest pressure, shortness of breath, dizziness, jaw/left arm pain, profuse sweating< are sometimes found with women, many times there is only one or two of these symptoms, or none of them at all. Basically, if you feel like something is wrong, don't wait to see what happens, just go to the ER and have it checked out… Immediately. You are at a prime age for a heart attack, and the symptoms you describe are alarming. Take 4 of the 80 mg chewable aspirins if you have them and go straight to the emergency room.
My Uncle told family members last year that he thought he may have had a minor heart attack a couple of weeks before their conversation, but thought he was fine since he began taking a couple aspirin every morning and the symptoms were pretty minor. Two days later he had a massive heart attack in front of his 16 year old daughter. He was 54. It was devastating to everyone, and what made it worse is he would still be here today if he had gone to the doctor when he first thought something was wrong. If you go and it turns out your heart is okay… That would be great news. If you don't, and you have a heart attack, the impact of your death on your loved ones can be devastating.

Symptoms, see if you can figure it out.?

Ok so here is a list of my symptoms over the last 2 years..See if you can figure this out because drs cant.

Severe anxiety (started after a very stressful event and 5 months after dad passed away)
depression (only happens at times when I have too much time to think)
Feeling of too much adrenaline, never tired. I can actually feel the adrenaline rushing (no fatigue at all)
headaches – mostly on sides and back of head
head rushes when standing
jaw tightness and pain from clenching
chest tightness/pains (heart tests came out normal)
sometimes tightness causing breathing trouble (still passing 100% o2)
minor wheezing for 5 min after walking
minor joint pain since I was a teen in ankles, wrist and shoulders upon waking (had injuries in shoulder and wrist)
pounding heart when laying down to go to bed
insomnia
PVCs (heart skips but told only 16 in 24 hours)
feeling of dizziness at times
nausea
GERD (heartburn, take protonix/dexilant)

That pretty much sums up my last 2 years. I have frequent sinus infections and allergies. I also have anxiety but nothing else has been diagnosed.

CT of chest/abdomen came back normal, EKGs, ultrasound of all organs including heart and thyroid normal, chest/neck xrays normal, barium swallow upper GI study normal.

All blood tests normal except elevated sed rate (inflammation in body) and ANA (unknown titer at this time)
Sorry do not have a value for my Sed rates as they did not give me one, just said “its high” CRP is normal and RF is normal. Was told ANA was positive but that they had no received a titer yet. As I said before tho I have no fatigue which is the main symptom of auto immune. I also seem to have a fine immune system, I dont get sick often and when I do it goes away pretty quickly.
Also I was never officially “diagnosed” with anxiety just told that by many ER docs. Symptoms get a lot better with use of lorazepam but I keep that to no more then 1- 1mg tab a day when I am at my worst.

Also not to sure if I mentioned but I have allergies. My house is backed up to a thick wooded wetland and I keep my window open all the time. I also have cats and a dog (I read 30% of allergy sufferers are also allergic to animals) and that could account for my chronic sinus problems, chest tightness, breathing difficulty and wheezing.

Yeah, I was thinking possibly PCOS. I was just tested for Cushing’s Syndrome (because of the buffalo hump it was suspected) but it came back negative. Though, I’m supposed to do more testing for it because I might be “cyclical.”

I know exactly how you feel. I am now able to sleep with a combination of taking zantac 150, and having the top of our bed on blocks/risers. The top of our bead is elevated by 6 inches. This way, the angled bed/gravity helps the acid stay in your stomach. You may be fine doing one or the other, but my heartburn was so bad, I needed to do both. Since I started doing this it is very, very rare that I wake up from heartburn now- where before I waking up every hour having to sit up or walk around. Tums and other antacids did nothing…

My father-in-law already had bed risers, but you can order them off of amazon.

Like me the heartburn started earlier than most people… So I highly recommend getting the risers, as it unfortunately only gets worse…

I feel the same way as you. I am almost 38 weeks and last night was the first night I have had heart burn. It is god awful! But I read in a couple of books that not eating a couple hours before bed helps. As well as limiting carbonated drinks and spicy foods should be a fix to the problem. As odd as it sounds, I was told to try getting on all fours and just relaxing so the baby is pushing upward on you and it helped a lot. It wasnt a permanent fix, but it made me feel better!

Oh, and an old wives tale was that the more heartburn you have the more hair your baby will have. I dont know how true that is, but lets hope for babies with heads full of hair!!!

What to do about gas during pregnancy?

remedy answers:

Most pregnant women suffer from bloating and increased gas in the belly at some point during pregnancy. Gas can cause abdominal pain or discomfort.

Causes of Gas During Pregnancy
During pregnancy, hormones relax the muscles in your digestive tract. This slows down your digestion and can cause gas to build up. Gas leads to bloating, burping, passing gas, discomfort, and pain in the belly—especially after a big meal.

Certain foods can make gas worse. But these vary from person to person. Some people naturally produce more gas than others. Some people get a lot of gas from foods that don’t bother others.

In general, some starches (such as pasta and potatoes), some fiber-rich foods (such as oat bran and beans), and foods that contain certain sugars (such as cabbage and cauliflower) cause gas for many people. Women who have trouble digesting dairy products may have bloating and gas when they eat more of these products during pregnancy.

Gas: What You Can Do
The following suggestions may help prevent excessive gas:

Reduce the amount of air you swallow. Eat several small meals throughout the day instead of a few large meals. Don’t eat in a hurry. Take your time, chew your food thoroughly, and don’t talk while eating. Avoid drinking from a bottle or straw. Cut down on carbonated beverages. Don’t gulp while drinking. Avoid chewing gum or sucking on hard candy.
Identify foods that bother you. Keep a food diary to help you find the foods that cause problems. Cut back on these foods, if possible, while being sure to eat a healthy diet. Cut back on fried and fatty foods, which can add to bloating.
Ask before taking over-the-counter remedies. Talk to your health care provider before taking these, since some are not safe during pregnancy.
When to Talk to Your Health Care Provider
If changes in diet and habits don’t help, talk to your health care provider. Contact your health care provider immediately if:

Gas ever feels like labor contractions (coming and going regularly, every 5-10 minutes).
Gas pain is accompanied by blood in your stool, severe diarrhea, or increased nausea and vomiting
source: http://www.marchofdimes.com/pnhec/159_15246.asp

Why do I seem to have so much gas now that I’m pregnant?
Everyone, pregnant or not, has some gas. The average person produces between 1 and 3 pints of gas each day and passes gas about 14 times a day. That said, you may experience even more gas than usual during pregnancy.

Don’t be surprised if you find yourself belching like a champion beer drinker or having to unbutton your pants to relieve bloating weeks before you begin to show.

Why does this happen? The primary reason is that during pregnancy you have much higher levels of progesterone, a hormone that relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation slows down your digestive processes, which can lead to gas, bloating, burping, and flatulence and generally create miserable sensations in your gut, especially after a big meal.

In later pregnancy, your growing uterus crowds your abdominal cavity, further slowing digestion, and pushes on your stomach, making you feel even more bloated after eating. During pregnancy, you may also start to experience heartburn or constipation, even if you’ve never been bothered by either one before.

Where does gas come from?
Gas gets caught in the digestive tract in two ways: when you swallow air and when bacteria in your colon (large intestine) break down undigested food. Most stomach gas results from swallowing air and is typically released by burping, though a small amount can continue down to the large intestine to be released as flatulence.

Most of the gas that causes flatulence is produced when bacteria in the large intestine break down food that was incompletely digested by enzymes in the stomach and small intestine. Certain carbohydrates are the main culprits. Protein and fat aren’t major gas producers, although fats, because they slow down digestion, can contribute to a sense of bloating.

How does pregnancy figure in? Pregnancy slows digestion, which gives the bacteria more time to work on the undigested material before it’s excreted. More time leads to more fermentation and, as a result, more gas.

Actually, anything that slows down bowel function can mean additional gas, so constipation can also make you feel more gassy and bloated.

Some people get a lot of gas from foods that don’t bother others at all. For example, people who are lactose intolerant don’t make enough lactase — the enzyme that breaks down lactose (the sugar in dairy products) — so they can get bloated and gassy if they have too much milk or ice cream. Individual variation in the balance of bacteria in the colon may also affect how much gas you make, according to some experts.

Can I get some relief by changing my diet?
The most effective way to reduce gas may be to cut back on the foods that are most likely to cause it. But if you eliminated everything that might cause gas, it would be hard to eat a balanced diet.

So start by cutting out the most common culprits, and if that gives you relief, begin adding those foods back into your diet one by one to try to pinpoint what’s causing the problem for you. Keeping a food diary can help you see the relationship between eating certain foods and having more gas.

The foods most likely to cause gas are beans, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and asparagus. All contain the sugar raffinose, which causes gas for a lot of people. Other people have trouble with onions, pears, artichokes, and sodas and fruit drinks sweetened with fructose. Sodas and fruit drinks should be avoided anyway, as they are empty calories and the carbonation in sodas can contribute to bloating.

Certain starches — such as pasta and potatoes, but not rice — can cause gas for some people. And certain fiber-rich foods — such as oat bran, beans, and many kinds of fruit — cause gas because they’re normally broken down in the large intestine.

One exception is wheat bran, which passes through your digestive system without getting broken down. This makes wheat bran a winner if you have constipation and need more fiber but also suffer from flatulence.

People who are lactose intolerant will find that dairy products give them gas. If you’re highly lactose intolerant, you probably knew this before you got pregnant, since dairy may give you diarrhea and abdominal pain.

But if you’re only somewhat intolerant and thus unaware of the effect dairy has on you, a dramatic boost in your consumption of dairy products during pregnancy may cause you some distress. To avoid this problem, look for lactose-free milk or calcium-fortified soy milk in your supermarket. If you aren’t drinking any kind of milk, you’ll probably need to take a calcium supplement.

Finally, try to steer clear of very fatty and fried foods. They don’t cause gas, but they slow down digestion, leaving you feeling bloated.

Yes, I’m 5 1/2 months and the only time I had heartburn was very early in pregnancy. Like from 6-9 weeks. Early in pregnancy I’ve read that it’s caused because your digestive tract slows way down to absorb all the nutrients from food and stuff.

I did have heartburn very early when I was pregnant. It was constant and horrible. Some women don’t experience heartburn in pregnancy until their uterus gets so big that it starts pushing on their digestive parts or something. Other women seem to get it as part of the gastrointestinal distress that goes along with the first trimester. For me it was the very first sign, but then again, a spicy meal or a pizza can give me a little heartburn. Good luck to you..

Ugh…I’m really early in my pregnancy and so far I’ve been luck enough to have only felt a little nauseous (barely enough to even bother me except for the occasional burps that bring up more than I expect [i know, sorry tmi]) around the evening but I have heartburn ALL DAY LONG. Anybody else have this problem. What do you do to combat it?
Tabby, thanks but I don’t drink soda. Its bad for the teeth and I’m avoiding caffeine
Ugh, I found out that dairy does NOT help at all lol

I’ll have to get some tums since that seems to be the common answer here

Tums with calcium!!! They are good for temporary relief

my doc put me on prevacid, took one in the morning and never had heartburn the entire day! It was wonderful, but i didn’t like taking it everyday so i only took it days i planned on eating spicy foods/ greasy foods.

And used tums to help with the other days!

Good luck!!

I have awful heartburn! It got to be hard for me to sleep, so my doctor said to take one Pepsin at night before I went to sleep and take TUMS during the day. It got a lot better, and easier for me to sleep. Also, I had to change my diet around and not eat spicy or citric foods.

I am 2 weeks overdue for my period and I am having constant hip/leg cramps…its not very bad but its lasted for 3 days. And heartburn is a problem at bedtime, I hardly ever get heartburn. I remember both of these being a pain in the butt when I was pregnant before. But then again my periods have been screwed up for the last year. Anyone else have these symptoms in early pregnany? Where these your first signs?

The first thing i noticed was sever pins and needles in my legs along with being very thirsty. That was what lead me to get a pregnancy test. I am a swimming teacher and by the end of my lessons i had to kneel on the floor because i couldn’t stand up without real pain. From what i have heard from friends its not a common sign but then everyones different.

Very common. I had it from about 12 weeks. Know a safe and easy cure? Have a glass of full cream milk. Works everytime
